Parish Council Meeting Notes – May 2009

Last updated on May 19, 2009

The meeting began with an address from Councillor David Brown regarding the Local Area Partnership.  He said that Haslington Parish was to remain in the Crewe and Nantwich Area of Cheshire East and that the secondary education of the pupils of Haslington Parish would remain within the Congleton LAP ie the Sandbach Secondary Schools.  The whole of the Local Area Partnership would be reviewed in 12 month’s time.

Councillor Bill Herriman was elected Chairman for the period 2009/2010 and Councillor Alan Casey was elected Vice Chairman for the same period.

Councillors thanked Councillor Mrs Doris Farrall for her work during her time as Chairman; she in turn thanked them all for their unstinting support of her.

It was with regret that Councillor John Pass from the Winterley Ward resigned from the Parish Council.  A letter was to be sent to Councillor Pass thanking him for his input over the past few years.

Pc Nick Moore reported that there had been several reports of drinking in open areas and one had resulted in two girls fighting after drinking by the Primrose Avenue Pier. He is als investigating bullying on the playing field and play equipment. This bad behaviour is not to be tolerated and the news that another PCSO is to be appointed was well received and hopefully will help overcome these problems.

PC Nick Moore will be available for consultation with members of the public at the Yoxall at 6.30pm until 7.15pm on 1 June before next Parish Council meeting.

Several lights were reported as being unlit and the Clerk was asked to write to the relevant authorities.

The state of the pavements and roads was of real concern and although these are reported month after month nothing seems to be done.  White rings around the pots holes will soon be obliterated by the weather, hopefully action will be taken before this happens.

The grass around the  newly installed play equipment had not been satisfactorily reinstated.  The contractor had sewn grass seed instead of turfing the area and this would be monitored over the next few months.  The older play equipment is to be painted to give it a brighter look!.

An email from Rob Welsh of  Cheshire East confirmed that the work at the end of the parking bay, Brook Terrace, had at long last been finished satisfactorily.
