White Moss Quarry Continuing Restoration

The White Moss Quarry Liaison Group meets regularly to discuss environmental issues relating to work at the quarry area which is located between Oakhanger and Alsager. At a recent meeting the group which includes representatives from Cheshire East Council, Haslington Parish Council, Land Recovery Ltd (the White Moss Quarry operators), The Mineral Planning Group (Specialist Consultants), and local residents agreed that the photographs below should be made public.

The photographs show the successful restoration that has taken place within the northern part of White Moss Quarry. Areas previously quarried for sand have been graded into a suitable landform, re-spread with subsoil and topsoil and restored.  The restoration operations included grass-seeding, tree-planting, the creation of reed-beds and some natural regeneration. The work by Land Recovery Limited to restore this phase of the quarry has resulted in a flourishing wetland area rich in wildlife.
