Riding of Motorbikes on Public Open Space

Someone recently contacted me (Webmaster@Haslington.org) asking if it is legal to ride a pit/dirt bike on the land adjacent to the Skatepark in Haslington. Unfortunately there seems to be an error with the email supplied and I have been unable to reply directly, so instead I thought it best to publish the reply here for all to see.

“The riding of motorbikes on public open space is both dangerous and anti-social behaviour and the Police and PCSOs have powers to deal with persons using mechanically propelled vehicles in an anti-social manner either on or off road.” So the answer is very definitely no, it is not legal to ride a pit/dirt bike on the land adjacent to the Skatepark in Haslington or any other similar public open spaces.
