Thanks are due to many people for helping to organise Haslington’s Remembrance parade and services on Sunday 13th November. These include The Haslington and Crewe Green Royal British Legion, Cllr. George Wood, Cllr. Tony Peake, Revd Jules Walker, St Matthews Choir, Cllr. John Hammond and of course the many people who attended this year, especially so many young people.
Winterley band always play a very important part in this annual event. Neil Barnett organised the band of twenty one musicians this year, which included some non-Winterley guest musicians, to lead the parade. It is no doubt quite challenging to assemble such a fine group of brass musicians who are not already committed to playing for a Remembrance Day Parade elsewhere. I’m sure you would all agree that the music was of a very high standard but you may be surprised to hear that several of the musicians had not actually played for the Haslington parade before and some had not even played whilst marching before. So special thanks to them all, especially for the fine solo renditions of The Last Post and to all the members for their part in making this important occasion so special.
