The food tin collection by Neighbours (formerly known as Neighbours in Distress), in Haslington and Winterley, will take place during the last week of November.
For over 20 years Neighbours, a local organisation, has worked at Christmas to try to ensure that as many people as possible who are in need, receive a little cheer. Over 60 food hampers are put together for the elderly in Haslington and Winterley. The remainder of the food collection is passed through to the Salvation Army to be shared by our neighbours in need in the the Crewe area.
This year, helped once again by many local volunteers and local youth organisations, we are asking for donations of tins or packets of food for the hampers. As we are assisted by youngsters, please do not donate anything in bottles, to prevent problems with the handling of glass.
Differing fortunes within our community mean that many people are at risk of having very little for Christmas, but knowing the generosity of the residents of Haslington and Winterley, Neighbours feels that many individuals and families can be helped, as they have been in previous years.
Leaflets asking for food donations will be arriving through everyone’s letter boxes in Haslington and Winterley during the week beginning 16th November with the collection taking place the following week 23rd to 27th November.
Many thanks for your support.
