The tin collection by Neighbours (formerly known as Neighbours in Distress), in Haslington, Winterley and Crewe Green, will take place during the last weeks of November and first week of December this year.
For over 20 years Neighbours, a local charity, has worked at Christmas to try to ensure that as many people as possible who are in need, receive a little cheer. This year, helped once again by many local volunteers, as well as the Rotary Club of Haslington (who kindly collect from Winterley) and local youth organisations we are asking for donations of tins of food stuffs for the hampers. As we are assisted by youngsters, please do not donate anything in bottles, to prevent problems with the handling of glass.
The economic down-turn means that more people are at risk of having very little for Christmas, but knowing the generosity of the residents of Haslington, Winterley and Crewe Green, the charity feels that many families can be helped, as have been in previous years.
