British Red Cross Open Gardens Scheme 2017

Message received from The British Red Cross, Cheshire:

I am writing to appeal to the Haslington community to help raise funds for the British Red Cross by taking part in our annual Open Gardens Scheme.

Our 2016 programme was a huge success and the money we raised has allowed us to continue to provide the vital services which help and support vulnerable people in crisis. The British Red Cross is part of a global network of volunteers, responding to natural disasters, conflicts and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. When the crisis is over, we help people to recover and move on with their lives.

We believe that gardens in Haslington offer inspiration to new and accomplished gardeners and visitors and we are keen to add Haslington gardens to our Red Cross open garden list for 2017. By opening your garden, on a day that suits you in spring/summer 2017, you will help raise much needed funds for the British Red Cross – nothing could be more rewarding and more gratefully received. You’ll get to show off your garden and meet like-minded gardeners at the same time.

This garden event is a fantastic opportunity to bring your friends, family and your local community together as well as helping to raise the essential funds needed to support the local services run by the British Red Cross. We would ask that all proceeds would be made directly to the British Red Cross to help support our local services which we run across Cheshire.

The British Red Cross offers to help people in crisis, whoever they are. We respond to emergencies all over the world and offers aid and support to communities affected by natural disasters. Here in the UK, the Red Cross provides a variety of health and social care services. We help people cope at home after a hospital stay and loan wheelchairs, free of charge, to both adults and children to help make a difficult situation into something more positive.

If anyone is interested in hosting their own garden event, please ask them to email Jen at or alternatively, they can e-mail Kerry at and we’ll be more than happy to help!

A registration form must be completed and sent back to the British Red Cross by Monday 9th January 2017 in order to register for this event.
