~~THE SCHOOLS’ DIAMOND JUBILEE STALL ~~
Despite a cool and at times rather damp day the schools’ stall, representing both The Dingle and Haslington Primary, proved to be a popular and successful attraction at the village fete, with many visitors making positive and complimentary comments about the children’s work and enjoying the games. It was a pleasure to work with the children, staff, parents and governors from both schools, and I would especially like to thank those of you who gave your support and your time both before the event and on the day itself. It was also a pleasure to work on a joint project with Haslington Primary School, and suggestions have already been made for future activities which would enable the children to work together and celebrate their place in the village community.
Although we never intended to make a profit we did actually raise the small sum of £52.80 after expenses. This was divided between the schools ‘Every little bit helps’ as they say! Most of the decorations were kindly donated by family and friends. It was a special day for the village and it was important for us to be there.
Once again, many thanks to all who made this possible.
~~YEAR 6 CRICKET~~
The Year 6 girls have been working hard for the last few weeks in preparation for a girls’ cricket tournament which took place last week at Middlewich CC. After many dinner times perfecting their bowling and batting techniques, the girls were well prepared for the competition. They started off really well with a close fought victory over Rhode Heath Primary. This was followed by a defeat in which the girls bowled fantastically but lost due to a couple of late run outs. This meant that they needed to win the last game against Black Firs Primary to qualify for the Cheshire Finals Tournament. The game was very close throughout, resulting in The Dingle needing 2 runs from the last ball to win. Unfortunately, an excellent delivery was struck to a Black Firs fielder and the game was narrowly lost. Well done to all the girls for practising so hard and representing The Dingle in such a fantastic way: Molly Butler (captain), Hope Voyce, Kira Lyon, Annie Rowland, Imogen Dowell, Jodie Cooper, Louise Elleray, Rowena Jones, Demi Tonks.
~~SOUTH AFRICA GUESTS~~
The Dingle welcomed 2 visitors last week from our twin school in Cape Town, South Africa; Wynberg Boys Junior School. Mr Rhode and Mrs Fakir were in school from Monday to Friday and enjoyed seeing a range of lessons throughout the school, picking up some tips along the way to take back to Wynberg. Both teachers were particularly impressed with the quality of work in the Big Writing books and were keen to take copies of children’s work back to share with their children. They also shared some South African culture with the children, including showing a PowerPoint to the KS2 children which showed Wynberg and how their school is similar and different to ours. The children enjoyed discussing the differences, including: a swimming pool; the sunny weather; uniform – shorts and long socks; and NO girls!
As well as spending time in school, both teachers have also enjoyed some local culture and hospitality. They shared a meal with The Dingle staff at The Holly Bush, enjoyed the views from the top of Beeston Castle, walked the walls in Chester and, Mr Rhode’s highlight, a tour of Anfield!
It is hoped that future visits can be made between the 2 schools and our children can continue to enjoy the benefits of having a twin school from a country with such a rich diversity of race, religion and culture.
The school band and choir are performing their Summer Concert on Wednesday, 4th July commencing at 7.00 p.m. Tickets are available from the main office priced at £3.00 per adult, £2.00 concessions (brothers & sisters free). Please come along and support what is a fantastic showcase of The Dingle’s musical talent.
~~GREEN ACTION DAY~~
On Friday 13th July we will be holding a Green Action Day. The children have been asked to dress in something green and to donate a £1 which will go to our chosen charity Caldwell Children. This charity transforms the lives of disabled children across the UK, providing equipment, short breaks for families, family support& therapy. The children will be taking part in a range of workshops throughout the day.

Year 6 children will be given a ticket free of charge as it is their last disco at The Dingle.
