CHEESE AND WINE EVENING
The Dingle Home School Association held a Cheese & Wine Evening on Thursday 18th November. There were 17 craft stalls selling a wonderful variety of gifts. We had a fantastic turn out and the evening was a great success. We raised a total of £500.
CHILDREN IN NEED
The School Council organised a non uniform day for Children in Need. It was a great success and raised a total of £291.00. The money has been split between two charities, Neighbours, who are collecting to buy local Children in Need Christmas gifts and the charity Children in Need.
Thanks to all those who supported the school.
POPPY APPEAL
Just to let you know that we raised a grand total of £112.32 for The Royal British legion through the Poppy Appeal. We had 2 pupils that spent time going to classes to promote this charity and did a fantastic job.
SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS FOR PUPILS
We would like to raise awareness about special diets for pupils. We are receiving many parental letters about special diets; however these need to be substantiated by a doctor or dietician letter. We cannot provide a special diet without this information, as we would not wish to put the child’s wellbeing in danger.
PARENTS’ AND GRANDPARENTS’ DAY 2011
We can now confirm that Parents’ and Grandparents’ Day for 2011 will be on Thursday 7th July for Parents and Friday 8th July for Grandparents.
CHILDMINDER (OFSTED REGISTERED)
Mrs James, one our parent has informed us that she is a registered childminder. She is available to collect and deliver to the Dingle, provides homemade food, a dedicated playroom and a large garden. Interested parties should contact Mrs James on: 07854395093.
PLEASE CHECK NAMES
Please can you ensure that you check the names on school coats, jumpers and cardigans? We have had a few coats that have gone missing and would appreciate if you could take the time to check that your child has brought the right item home.
ENTERPRISE DAY REPORT
by Teagan Paton Year 5
On the 26thNovember, we went to Sandbach High School for the Primary Enterprise Day. The Enterprise Day was about trying to get a country to win the Olympic Games bid for the 2016 games. There were five other schools there, each with two teams. We had one team from Mr Bennett’s class and one team from Mrs Hayes’s class. Each team had a country and ours was Greece. Mr Bennett’s class was Mexico. Our first challenge was to think of a team name and we came up with the name ‘The Electra Stars’. Our second challenge was to create a mascot and we all had fun doing that. Our third challenge was to design a t-shirt, and you can guess how that went! Sian had to model the t-shirt on a cat walk. Our fourth challenge was to make a poster using persuasive writing. Finally we made a stall to display our team’s entire bid, and the winner was announced. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a medal, but we all had a great day.
NEW SCHOOL LOGO
When Cheshire County Council was split into two authorities; Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester, schools were asked to look at changing their external signage to reflect their new authority. The time has now come to renew our signs in line with this directive and at the last Governors’ meeting it was agreed that we would take this opportunity to update the school’s logo as part of the same exercise.
The new signage will be erected prior to commencement of the spring term and the new logo will be phased in on school uniform from February 2011 through to the autumn term 2011.
The choice of logo has been narrowed down to two options and the children will vote on which design they prefer. Once a definitive option is agreed, samples will be on display in the main reception area for parents to view the design and quality.
Due to the number of complaints received regarding our current uniform supplier, Mrs Charlton and Mrs Robinson have submitted a proposal to the Governors to supply the uniform themselves and approval was granted. Parents will be able to order uniform direct via an order form with a view to online ordering in the near future. Items will be delivered direct to school for collection. They will also hold uniform evenings on various dates throughout the school year.
LATENESS
It has become very noticeable that a large number of our children have been arriving at school late this week. This then holds up the start to lessons or children miss the introduction to their work and then have difficulty following the lesson. I understand that the weather may have some impact upon people travelling to school, but I would be grateful if you would set off slightly earlier to ensure children arrive on time. While the cold weather continues we will allow the children straight into school from 8:45 am and for older junior siblings of our infant children to go home at 3:15pm.
