Do you have a local history website in Haslington? My great grandfather, Thomas Lowe, was a policeman there and lived in Barradish Lane and I am unable to find it on the map. This was in 1860/70. As an ex WI member I am hoping that you might be able to help.

As far as I know there is not a website dedicated to local history for Haslington, but we are happy to publish anything to do with Haslington history on Haslington.org.
I’m pretty sure there is not a lane called Barradish Lane in this area now, but what is now Park Road in Haslington used to be called Barrow Ditch Lane which sounds rather similar if you say it fast!
There were only a few houses in Barrow Ditch Lane in the late 1800s so if this was the lane then it should be fairly simple to find the house.
I tried searching the Cheshire Tithe map database (here: http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/tithemaps/) for Lowe and found a Thomas Lowe in Winterley near Haslington at around 1835 – 1850.
