“I Have a Dream!” – Musical Production at Danebank

Wed 27th to Sat 30th October at Danebank Theatre

Mustseemusicals has been set up by local people from Crewe and Nantwich to produce shows. They rehearse in Shavington. The group helps lots of local children and adults. One of the main aims is to encourage the young people to develop new skills and to broaden their horizons as they can be involved in all sides of producing the show from acting, stage crew, back stage or helping front of house. It gives them valuable experience and also gives them an activity to do 2 nights a week. They also aim to put on nights of entertainment throughout the year.

Haslington Group Walk Across Morecambe Bay

On Saturday 19th June 2010 a group of people from Haslington walked right across Morcambe Bay as part of an organised event to raise money for The Leprosy Mission. The walk from Hest Bank to Humphrey Head took over five hours to complete through at times difficult walking conditions, but was of course skillfully led by the official Morecambe Bay guides.

The event raised over £8,000 for The Leprosy Mission and the Haslington group also made donations to St. Matthew’s church and the Alzehemier’s Society.

St Matthews 200 Year Anniversary Sponsored Swim

Chris Betts will be taking part in a sponsored swim on 5th September 2010. Here is a message from Chris:

St. Matthew’s Church, Haslington are celebrating 200 yrs of the present church building and to commemorate this occasion I have decided to swim 200 lengths of my local gym swimming pool (approx 2½ miles). Three years ago I had a quadruple heart bypass at the North Staffs Hospital, and to show my appreciation for the help given to me by the British Cardiac Patients Association and the church, all sponsor money will be divided between the 2 organisations. Horse Riding Problems

PARISH COUNCIL NOTICE:

With the increased popularity of horse riding in and around Haslington and Winterly there have been some problems with horse droppings on pavements and walkways and the Parish Council request that riders take care and appropriate action to ensure that all pavements remain clean for the use of pedestrians.
