Haslington’s annual Village Green Carol Singing will take place this year on Friday 16th December commencing at 7:00pm. Everyone’s welcome to attend this popular event, to join in the singing or just enjoy the atmosphere.

Refreshments will be served in the Red Cross building afterwards.

Remembrance Sunday 2011

Haslington and Crewe Green Branch of the Royal British Legion invite all village organisations to take part in this years Remembrance Day Parade.

The parade will assemble at Waterloo Road Car Park at10.30am on Sunday 13th November 2011 and from there march to the War Memorial where a short service will be held and wreaths laid.

All members of the general public are warmly invited to take part.

Afterwards processing to St Matthews Church to join in a united service which will commence at 11.10am.

Red Cross – Christmas Fair & Supper Dance

at the Red Cross Centre, Waterloo Road

Saturday 19th November 10am ’til 12noon

Tea/Coffee Raffle, Tombola, Christmas Gifts etc.

A Dance & Meat & Potato Pie Supper

At The Yoxall Village Hall

Saturday 26th November 7.30pm for 8pm supper

Scouts to Celebrate 40th Anniversary

16th SWC Crewe Green Scouts will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary in December 2011 and are looking for anyone with connections to the 16th, maybe old scouts, leaders and families? Has anyone out there got any old photos which they could have a look at and scan for the records? Celebration afternoon to take place at the Yoxall Village Hall on Saturday 3rd December 2011 from 2.30 to 5.30. Come have a tea, coffee and hot dog whilst chatting with members of the scouting group. If you would like to know more about scouting, interested in helping at one of the groups then please came and see us. A Celebration of Healthy Ageing.

Crewe and Nantwich Seniors Voice Group want to invite all over 50’s , and extend a warm welcome to, their partners, carer, friends and children to the biggest FREE day out especially for them that Crewe has ever seen. A warm welcome awaits you at their forth coming 3^rd Health and Wellbeing Fayre due to take place on Thursday the 6^th October at the Oakley Buildings / Victoria Community Centre Crewe, between 10.00am and 4.00pm. The day aims to offer opportunities to enjoy a FREE fun packed day of activities as well as a one stop shop of vital health information and FREE informal health checks and advice as well as fall’s prevention exercises and techniques, all under one roof. Chair of Crewe and Nantwich Seniors Voice Adrian Lindop says that “Our group are proud to be hosting what has turned into an annual health event for the Seniors of this area and appreciate the continued support from the National Lottery Awards For All Grant scheme in believing in us once again and funding the day’s event. This is not just a FREE day out for the elderly but also a place where new friendships are made and a lot of useful information gathered.” He adds that “If anyone has transport issues and needs transport providing to and from the event we can provide this FREE of charge, so please call me as soon as possible so that we can arrange this for you.” There will be two halls full of over 54 organisations on the day all offering their FREE advice and expertise ranging from benefits advice to support groups, FREE blood pressure checks, diabetes risk scores, healthy living advice and body composition analysis, in an informal setting. The fun activities include: ball room and line dancing, craft and knitting workshops with artist Rachael Elwell, live singing entertainment, slow cooker demonstrations and food tasting session, Otago, table tennis, short mat bowls and much more. Halloween Hoe-Down at the Yoxall – 29th October

This year the Hoe-Down is intermingled with Halloween and so you are welcome to dress up in Halloween fancy dress if you wish !

We have a fabulous local band, Hobnail Roots with a brilliant caller to help you out on the dance floor, scrumptious hog roast with apple sauce

and stuffing and also a veggie option.

The bar will be open from 7 – 12pm with a variety of cold drinks available, traditional keg beer being a favourite !

Various fundraising events will be held throughout the night, including a raffle with some brilliant prizes donated by local Haslington businesses, a fun general knowledge quiz, a whisky roll and others.

A great fun night to be had – sold out last year ! – so tickets are sold on a first come first served basis this year as numbers are restricted.

Tickets : £15 per person !!
